| WE thought you might
like to see some pics of other peoples trikes who have visited our site,
and contacted us to tell us what they thought of it.
Here are a couple of pics from Russell
Ironsides of his trikes
This here is a pic of Russell with his old trike
"Old Yellar. Who has been his pride & joy, and regular
transport for over 4yrs. Yellar is based around a 1500cc VW engine and
gearbox . the rear wheels are a pair of fat
"Comstar" ally's. the front end is from an unknown Jap
bike, probably a Yamaha. The frame and
fibreglass body work are Pheonix . Unfortunately for reasons
beyond his control Russell had to sell "yellar", but now has a
new project .
And this is it. This bit of "genetic
engineering" also known as a beach b'stard is based on a 1300cc
beetle back end, mated to a set of "Bay area" springers.
Russell brought it as a part done renovation project from the previous
owner who's financial situation had taken a turn for the worse. So far
he has cut out all the rotted area, de rusted others cut back the roof, molded
and blended in the rear mudguards. This still leaves welding in all the
patches, making new roof supports, repainting and recovering and fitting
the seats. Russell had hoped to have all this done and back on the
road for this this year (02). But as he like the D.O is a life
member of the Arthritis mcc jobs that normally would take a few months
can take twice, three times as much and even longer if you have to work
outside and can only work when it's warm and dry: so he is now aiming
for next year or even the year after.
Next is Angies from up in the Tyne & Wear area.
She has owned it for 3 years. It is based on a Kawasaki GT750 with a
bolted on rear axel and sub frame which makes it a hardtail which tends
to shake everything loose, so she has regular tightening sessions. (Just
like owning an old brit bike). The Kwak was triked about 10 years ago
and that is about she knows of its history.
Dan is the owner of this " Bad
Boy" of a trike.
The trike was custom built in 1998 for a
female colleague of Dan's when they were serving in Germany. He's not
sure where or who built it but it is a real good piece of work.
Dan's dad bought it off her in 1999 and imported it into England. This
however, proved to be a mission impossible. it took over 6 months of
paper work to DVLA and customs who obviously didn't have a clue what
they were doing. He kept the vehicle for the next 3 years adding little
bits and sprucing it up a little, then in Jan 03 he decided he had had
enough if it and gave it to Dan. "Which was nice". Says
Dan.
He is currently trying to decide whether of not to fit baffles
into the pipes it as it is a weeeee bit loud at the mo! He loves the
sound but worried about the neighbours reaction, also toying with the
idea of fitting fibreglass mudguards and some sort of back box, (funds
permitting).
